Sustainability

Snowy Peak Limited is deeply engaged with ecological, social and ethical sustainability issues. We research and consider the overall influence of all our activities on the planet's flora, fauna and also its people. We have won many awards for our ethical business practices.

Ecological Sustainability: The Planet’s Flora and Fauna
  • Snowy Peak Limited’s production process is clean, free of noise and pollution to air, land or water.
  • The use of Brushtail Possum fibre in New Zealand benefits our environment by contributing to a reduction in the use of broadcast poisons; and to the effort to protect our native forest and birds.
  • Where possible we source and use environmentally positive alternatives. Instead of plastic for example, we use paua shell buttons on the Shell Cardigan.
Social Sustainability: The Planet’s People
  • Snowy Peak Limited ensures that all employees who make our garments have good working conditions and are well paid.
  • Biannually Snowy Peak Limited holds a Christmas Card Workshop and Party for the children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews of staff members and children from the local primary school; Roydvale Primary School. Children participate by hand-making Christmas cards using fabric remnants from our factory. With the funds saved, the children personally select wonderful toys, made by disabled workers from sustainable timber resources. which are gifted to other children in the community who have nothing at Christmas. All hours to achieve this are donated by staff.
Ethical Sustainability: Environmental, Social and Cultural Sustainability
  •  A percentage of Snowy Peak Limited’s profits go to the Untouched World™ Charitable Trust. This trust is centred on education, environmental, social, cultural and community issues.
